On September 18th, in partnership with Alberta Innovates, Aruba Wireless, iON United, MNP, ROGERS, and SAIT, Alberta IoT hosted our first annual Golf Tournament at Apple Creek Golf Course. We were completely sold out of sponsorships and golfer spaces a week before the event, proving that Alberta’s IoT community truly is ready to get back to business. It was a beautiful day to be outside, and lots of new connections were made among members.
The event kicked off with 18 holes of golf followed by dinner and drinks. During dinner, we enjoyed a brief update from Alberta IoT Executive Director Brenda Beckedorf, including an overview of the current state of Alberta’s IoT ecosystem and Alberta IoT Association’s goals, priorities, opportunities, and success metrics. Our Keynote speaker was Kirk Duffee, Managing Director at S8C. Kirk delivered an information-packed presentation on Taking the T2D3 Path to Grow Your Business Beyond $1M in Revenue. He shared a number of insights gleaned throughout his career on challenges faced with regard to employees, customers and governance, and some proven strategies and solutions that founders can deploy to successfully manage second-stage growth. You can view Kirk’s presentation slides here.

We are proud and humbled to be able to say that our golf tournament was planned and run almost completely by a team of amazing volunteers. Feel free to connect with them on LinkedIn and share your gratitude for a job well done!
